Newport Dunes Resort has just sailed through completion of a $500,000 renovation of its boat launch ramp.  One of three such facilities in Orange County that are open to the public, the Dunes’ newly expanded launch area is the only centrally located ramp in the region and it enables ready access to Newport Harbor.  The renovation project began with the removal of the original seven launch lanes and new ones were constructed using a stronger, more durable material that allows for added traction.  In addition, the lanes have been extended to 100 feet in length in order to accommodate larger vessels (up to 45 feet), which makes the launching process easier.

Next, all docks adjacent to the launch ramp were completely rebuilt and outfitted with surfaces that offer improved traction.  Docking space has been expanded and now can temporarily accommodate up to 20 vessels.  Other boat launch amenities include professional boat launch and recovery services, private wash racks, 24-hour security and free access to water, jump-start and air services.
