The environment is what makes Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina so special for RV campers and glampers in Orange County. The health of our planet is integral our mission which is to provide a diverse, welcoming atmosphere that inspires amazing memories with family, friends, community, colleagues, and the environment. In order to stay true to this mission, Newport Dunes encourages our guests, campers and employees to be good stewards of the environment. Read on for a few ways we are committed to sustainability and ways you can join us in this endeavor!
Respect Existing Wildlife
Newport Dunes sits on the Newport Upper Back Bay, which is a nature preserve that is home to over 200,000 migratory birds and countless other wildlife. When enjoying the bay whether walking the Promenade, swimming, or kayaking, be sure to give animals space and don’t feed any wildlife. The Nature Preserve is home to three sensitive species: The California Gnatcatcher, San Diego Cactus Wren, and Burrowing Owl. Two important plant communities are also found on the bluffs – grasslands and coastal sage scrub. Respect all who call the bay home, so both campers and animals can enjoy the reserve for years to come!
Due to climate change, California continues to suffer from the most severe drought in recent history. Newport Dunes is doing all it can to limit water usage. We encourage our guests to do the same. Below are a few tips to help reduce water usage during your stay:
Take shorter showers, use low-flow shower valves, and turn off water while brushing your teeth, etc.
Rethink cleaning – sweep instead of spraying dirt away with water, only wash full loads in washing machine and dishwasher, etc.
Repair leaky hoses or faucets in and around your rig or cottage.
Refrain from washing vehicles and RV and when necessary, use a hose fitted with a positive shut-off nozzle.
The beach and water sports rentals are available to the public for day use and visits. With access to nearby nature, the community can grow a better understanding of the local habitat and appreciate the importance of protecting our environment.
As an RV camping and aquatic recreation destination located on the shores of Upper Newport Bay, Newport Dunes is committed to protecting not only the health and safety of guests but also the surrounding coastline, wetlands, and wildlife that inhabit those areas.
Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina may be an urban campground, yet that has never stopped us from encouraging all who visit to respect and care for the environment we inhabit. Join us in our efforts to do your best to reduce waste and protect the environment during your stay!
